Wheelie Stagey Talks Theatre: Alice Fearn Presents”Intermissions”

Though the theatre community is suffering immeasurably right now, as a fan of the industry I’m hugely proud of the way the industry is striving to come together and find new, innovative ways to keep doing what they love, for themselves as creatives and us, the audiences.

West End leading lady Alice Fearn (Come From Away, Wicked and a whole host of other credits) will launch her new online concert series Intermissions on 17th July.

Intermissions

Adhering to all social distancing guidelines, the four week long series will stream live every Friday at 7pm from the comfort of Alice’s garden with a three camera set up. The series will encompass live music from a mixture of West End stars and new graduates (accompanied by Nick Barstow and directed by Kirk Jameson), interviews and much more. Even better, a pound from every ticket sold will go towards a different charity each episode, beginning with Acting For Others, so not only will you enjoy some phenomenal talent, you’ll be doing your bit to support the arts industry during this incredibly difficult time.

Intermissions first guest on 17th July will be singer/songwriter Shan Ako, most recently seen as Eponine  in both Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre and the staged concert version at the Gielgud Theatre.

Shan was also a top 12 finalist in The X Factor in 2018 and starred as Whitney in the UK and European tour of Queen of The Night.

The next guest, on 24th July will be Sam Tutty, best known for his Olivier nominated debut in the title role in London’s Dear Evan Hansen. He also recently starred as Daniel in Once On This Island at Southwark Playhouse.

More guests will be announced in due course…

Alice says: “In a time where we can’t be doing what we love, I wanted to create a space where we could keep theatre alive. Intermissions is a live gig with a difference raising money for four important causes and featuring both West End stars and new graduates who are coming out into an industry that is currently quiet. I’ll be chatting to the guests and asking them how the lockdown experience has been, we’ll have live performances and so much more. The best part? It’s all from the comfort of my garden.  Theatre is something that we all feel so strongly/passionately about so I’m thrilled we can make this work and can’t wait to get started on July 17th.”

Tickets start at £9, and can be purchased here

During lockdown, some of my favourite theatre content has been gigs like these, so I’m very excited to support Alice & the team in their new venture!
